I have been visiting World book fair when my child was only 6 months, from soft touch and sound books to picture books to chapter books and the journey has been so enriching. Book fairs are an unlimited ocean of books, its hard to resist which one to buy and which one to leave.
Why I started visiting book fair so early? Even when my child aged 6 months could read or write. Many people asked me so. I used to buy huge number of books even which were 3 to 4 years ahead of his age group. Feeling the new books, opening the pages would fill him with excitement more than any toy or a teddy bear. For babies and toddlers, you not only find soft touch books, sound books, but bedtime stories, nursery rhymes to read upon but also puzzles, abacus, maths blocks and many other educational tools.
I can guarantee, as a parent you would never struggle to keep your child away from social media, video games and television if they are addicted to books.
My child has never played video games, not on any social media and his interests in Movies and Serials is unique and enriching. My child every year is most excited about the book fair dates more than any international holidays or anything else.
Visiting book fair has become a necessary ritual of our family, its a learning cum entertainment trip, where we all choose books now as per our interests and keep on going from one stall to another till our feet give up.
The world of books is enchanting and Book fairs are gateways to this enchanting world. It should be a must visit for every parent and every school should plan trips to book fairs.
So if you want your child to be in love with learning, make it sure to visit book fairs, libraries or join some reading clubs.
Let them explore the fantasy world of books, let them fall in love with the scent and touch of books.
