Though politics is not my domain, the recent protests highlight the kind of parenting these protesters have received.
These protesters do not represent the real youth of India. The real youth of India is participating in IMO, Olympiads, WSDC, and embarking on numerous innovative journeys.
But still this section, was part of India, and this is most painful thing to accept today.
This youth who were no less than gangsters considering their language, etiquettes and action.
Today they have brought shame to India, a country known for its rich culture and values. A country where Shravan Kumar was born, a country where a son accepted 14 years of exile to honour his father’s promise.
Let us, for a moment, forget whom they disrespected. The bigger question is: which Indian home teaches youngsters to abuse a 75-year-old man in this manner? Which school did these youngsters attend? Which teachers were responsible for shaping them and correcting them when they crossed boundaries?
There was a social media post where the mother of the person who led these protests said that she was proud of him. Immediately, a story came to my mind.
A thief was caught, and when he was caught, he bit his mother. When asked why he did so, he replied that his mother had praised him the first time he committed a theft at school and brought something home. Had she corrected him at that moment, he would have understood that his action was wrong and might not have become such a dreadful thief.
Similarly, had their parents, teachers, and schools corrected them when they first used such language or displayed such disrespectful behaviour, perhaps they would not have reached this stage.
Especially concerning the girls, the kind of language used and the posters displayed were deeply disappointing. It is painful to see such behaviour from anyone, especially from young Indians who represent the future of the country.
